Why your non-profit organization needs a new website
Let’s say you’re going through a list of local non-profit organizations looking for a worthy charity to which you can donate your time or money. Realizing the name doesn’t tell you enough about what they do and how they do it, you Google them to see if you can learn more. Odds are, one of two things will happen.

You only find third-party information–phone listings and websites that mention them in passing. Since it’s evening or a weekend, you can’t really call to get information. Maybe there are newspaper articles mentioning the organization, but it doesn’t tell you much.
You find their website, and it looks like it hasn’t been touched since the nineties. Some have obnoxious graphics and blinking text, others have so much information on one page it all becomes a blur. So, you go to the next organization on your list, because it’s not worth your effort to struggle through reading that page.
So what do these nonprofits need to do? Build or update your website. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, but you can spend as much as you want. Keep in mind that it will be your first impression to many people. Usually a simple, tasteful design will work best for you.
